“Then the Lord said to Moses, Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and Israel…….And He wrote on the tablets the words of covenant-the Ten commandments”. Exodus 34:27-28
This was written 1500 years before Christ and it is witnessed in the Old Testament. This statement has never been changed. This covenant has changed lives to so many people and something similar has never happened. And all was true.
“He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which is commanded, you to follow…” Deuteronomy 4:14
“I am the Lord your God…you shall have no other Gods before me;
You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on
the earth beneath or in the waters bellow. You shall not bow down to them or
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God…;
Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy;
Honor your father and your mother;
You shall not murder;
You shall not commit adultery;
You shall not steal;
You shall not give false testimony…;
You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife…” Deuteronomy 5:6-21
God Himself gave us His Word in order to open our eyes for seeing good, our ears for hearing his promises and our mouth to confess our sins and proclaim His glory.
“Fear God and keep his commandments…” Ecclesiastes 12:13
By keeping His commandments, we are out of any evil thoughts, words and deeds. We are out of any burden that can not be solved satisfactory. We are out of sorrow, defeatism and any kind of unsuccessful image.
God gave us His only begotten son because He loves us so much. He created us; He gave us life not to live it in vain but to give Him glory, to serve Him and to live in accordance to His Word, His commandments. How can we forget to return love to someone who loves us so deeply?
“…Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with your entire mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments”. Mathew 22:37 This shows us that God was the same in the days of Moses and in the days of Jesus, as He is today and thus will be forever. His commandments are the same, too. It is confirmed in the New Testaments, too.
Again, the commandment was given personally by the Lord. Jesus gave us the greatest commandment that will bring us to life, not as we live it now, worldly, but life that is holy according to the given teachings in the Bible.
“If you want to enter life, obey the commandments…” Mathew 19:17 “And the commandment is holy, righteous…” Romans 7:12
